Visian ICL
The Visian ICL intraocular lens implant can correct myopia and astigmatism, and can allow people who are nearsighted to see without glasses or contact lenses. The Visian ICL offers vision correction that’s sharper, clearer, more vivid, and has greater depth and dimension than other procedures such as LASIK. The main advantage of the Visian ICL over traditional corrective laser eye surgery is that patients may experience significant improvement in quality of vision after the lens is implanted. When compared to the results of corneal refractive surgery, the Visian ICL may produce superior vision quality as evidenced by fewer higher order aberrations.
The Visian ICL is inserted into the eye through a micro-incision and positioned between the natural lens and iris where it can stay indefinitely. The out-patient procedure is quick and comfortable and can take less than 15 minutes requiring no sutures. Patients often experience immediate improvement of their vision and recovery usually takes one day or less. One significant advantage of the Visian ICL over LASIK is that it is easily reversible, with no side effects.
One added benefit is that the Visian ICL is made of an advanced lens material that can block harmful UVA and UVB rays from entering the eye, which may protect the eye from UV-related eye disorders such as cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.

The Visian ICL can correct myopia from as low as -3.0 diopters to -16.0 diopters and reduce myopia from -16.0 diopters up to as high as -20.0 diopters with or without astigmatism. Previously, some of these individuals were not candidates for surgical eye correction. Patients should be 21 to 45 years old, and it is preferable that there be no history of prior ophthalmic surgery or history of ophthalmic disease such as glaucoma, iritis, or diabetic retinopathy. Clinical studies have shown how the Visian ICL is truly a breakthrough myopia treatment in terms of vision correction results. Because implantation of the phakic IOL does not require any structural alteration of the eye, results are predictable and very stable.
