Everyone on our staff is always eager to meet and help both new and established patients! Always upbeat and cheerful, the team members at the front desk will make sure that your appointments are booked and will call you as a reminder a few days prior to your scheduled time. They are extremely knowledgeable, and can answer most questions from billing, scheduling, surgical procedures and medications.
Wu Eye Care is multi-lingual. Our staff speaks English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Fuzhou, and Taiwanese.

ALEXANDER WU, MD FACS
Alexander Wu, MD FACS is a board certified ophthalmic surgeon specializing in cataract and refractive vision correction. He comes from a long line of ophthalmologists and medical doctors committed to medical excellence. His father and grandfather are both internationally acclaimed authorities in ophthalmology.
After graduating with distinction from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Alexander Wu completed his ophthalmology training at the Institute of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at UMDNJ (University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey). He personally has performed thousands of cataract, LASIK, and lens implant procedures with spectacular results, and is continually pioneering state-of-the-art surgical techniques and procedures.
He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
As a lifetime member of Mensa, a non-profit organization of people whose intelligence levels are in the top 2% of the world, Dr. Wu applies his formidable intellect and surgical skills to providing the best personalized solution to each patient’s needs.
TIMOTHY YUAN, OD
Timothy Yuan, OD is a board certified optometrist with training in ocular disease, refractive correction, specialty contact lens and myopia control. After graduating from Stony Brook University, Dr. Timothy Yuan completed his optometric training at SUNY College of Optometry. Dr Timothy Yuan has received training at NYU Ophthalmology, VA St. Albans/Brooklyn Hospital, and Brooklyn Diabetes/Brooklyn Eye Center. He has training in postoperative examinations working alongside Retina, Glaucoma, and Refractive Specialists.
He is a young advocate for the New York State Optometric Association and is an active member of the American Optometric Association, American Academy of Optometry, Optometric Society of the City of New York, and the Nassau County Optometric Association.
CHIA-DER WU, MD, PH. D
Dr. Chia-Der Wu is the founder of Wu Eye Care, and has been a driving force behind the success of this practice since 1986. He has extensive training in eye care, being licensed to practice in Taiwan, Germany, and the US, and Wu Eye Care was built with his tremendous endurance, enthusiasm, and love for his patients. His philosophy of caring for everyone, whether young or old, rich or poor, has spread his reputation as a compassionate physician beyond the local population here in Flushing – many patients come from out-of-state because they trust Dr. Wu and his empathic manner helps them feel at ease.
Dr. Wu received his medical degree at Taipei Medical University, then was awarded his Ph.D at the University of Bonn. He then went on to train in ophthalmology at the University of Munich, where he received his accreditation as a practicing ophthalmologist. Not content to stop there, he came to New York and again trained for ophthalmology at St. Claire’s Hospital and Health Center. Having decided at the time to settle in New York, he then opened a practice and began what would become Wu Eye Care in Flushing.
